situation:
Enterprise software company has a suite of network automation and orchestration products that help companies avoid network outages and simplify network-wide updates. The company needed to break into the SaaS market and create a top-notch experience. The product was divided into three parts, Orchestration, Automation, and Administration.
TASK:
I was given the task of leading the design efforts for the Administration part of the SaaS platform.
ACTIONS:
I worked with the Product Owner to analyze the user research and discover what our customers wanted and needed in a SaaS experience. Ease of use and an intuitive interface were top of mind as I created personas, user flows, user stories, wireframes, low-fi prototypes, and hi-fidelity mock ups. Using the design patterns my fellow designers and I worked on for a year, I designed a new experience that was still familiar to current customers yet streamlined. The administrative tasks involved permissions, groups, users, service providers, and identity providers. I designed the interface in a way that made assigning users to groups was simple, letting the administrator see every role and permission that a user has. Connecting Gateways was another important task that needed lots of thought. The designs accounted for every scenario an Admin may face when creating public certificates and assigning them to a Gateway, including copy/paste, uploading file, or generating a new key.
Creating Personas and journey mapping different user stories helped us flesh out what was important to our users.

RESULTS:
Our SaaS platform has seen 20+ customers sign up since launching in October 2024. We have simplified the way companies run automations on their network, enabling their employees to do their work from anywhere in the world through the cloud.
